October 14th: In an interview with FIFA’s official website, Brazilian winger Anthony talked about his current status and some topics about the national team.

About your current status

- The "New Anthony" is someone who learns from the difficulties, respects the process and plays with joy again. Today I can proudly say that I am in the best moment of my life in a place where my wife, children, and I have chosen to live. The city (Seville) accepted us in an incredible way and gave me peace. This peace off the field is directly reflected in my football: I feel more mature, aware of my responsibilities and have great fun every training session and game.

About the move to Betis

- I know my potential and the hard work I have put in to get here, and despite some tough times, participating in the 2022 World Cup has proven that my work is worthwhile. When I returned to Betis, it was not to prove something to the world, but to find the best version of myself. Here I did it, I regained my confidence, my joy in playing football and my connection with the fans.

On your connection with Betis

- From the first time I arrived, I felt a genuine connection with the club and the city. Everything was very transparent and I allowed myself to fully immerse myself in the culture, customs and daily life here. That commitment gave me a warm welcome and the trust Betis and their fans gave me was crucial to my return to form. Now, I feel like this bond has become part of my identity.

On the stress you faced during tough times

- It was a very tough time and made me have to rethink a lot of things. But I always believed that God was by my side and my family and friends were always supporting me. Life has never been easy, but I have always found strength in the people who have been there for me. Giving up was never an option, the only way out was to persevere until I rediscovered my calling.
