Interview with Vitinha: Enrique brought me to another level. The third place in the Ballon d’Or was a natural progression.
. Generally speaking, defensive midfielders pass the ball with one or two touches. And I am used to touching the ball multiple times, attracting the other players well and then passing the ball out. That's why Enrique didn't put me in this position initially. But when he saw that I could play the position in a different way, even though I didn't fit the traditional box of a No. 6, I think Enrique saw that that could be beneficial to the team.
These performances and fun on the court also brought honors: runner-up in the Club World Cup and especially third place in the Ballon d'Or. How did you feel?
Vitinia: Indeed, this feels a bit strange. This is the ultimate dream, the one you always dreamed of being at the top of the rankings. But when it happens, when you have the possibility of being a winner or finishing third... If you had told me when I was 12 years old, "You're going to be third in the Ballon d'Or when you're 25," it would have been unbelievable. But when you experience this personally and look at the path you have traveled, you will feel that this is a bit natural. You may not be as excited to experience this as you once were. But when you realize it afterwards with your family and friends, third place in the Ballon d'Or, this is top notch, it's a dream. But it also comes with responsibility and having to work hard to stay at this level. I know it's hard, it's not easy to do well every year, the competition is fierce. I will do whatever it takes to stay at this level. I'm in the perfect place to achieve this - PSG, the defending Champions League champions. I will try to replicate last season's performance and, if possible, even better.
