Official: Real Madrid mourns the passing of legendary goalkeeper Ocho Torena

October 27th, Real Madrid Club, President and Board of Directors expressed their deep condolences on the passing of legendary goalkeeper Jose Manuel Ochotorena.

The club extends its sincere condolences to his family, teammates and all the clubs he has played for.

Ocho Torena played for Real Madrid for 6 seasons from 1982 to 1988. During this period, he helped the team win 2 UEFA Cup championships, 3 La Liga championships and 1 League Cup championship.

In addition to Real Madrid, he also played for Valencia, Tenerife, Logroñes and Racing Santander. While at Valencia, he won the Zamora Award in the 1989-1990 season. Ochotorena also represented the Spanish national team in the 1990 World Cup in Italy.

After retiring, Ocho Torena served as a goalkeeper coach for clubs such as Valencia and Liverpool, as well as the Spanish national team (2004-2021), and won 1 World Cup championship and 2 European Cup championships with the team.

José Manuel Ochotorena passed away at the age of 64. Real Madrid expresses its condolences to all fans. May he rest in peace.
