Perkins commented that Bronny should not be a McDonald s All-American, and James was angry
According to US sports media F/W analyst Gautam Warrier, Perkins has built bridges with many of his former NBA teammates since becoming a member of the media. Speaking on the Out The Mud podcast about his lost friendships, Perkins revealed that even James was offended by comments he made about son Bronny. "I lost some friends, Westbrook, Durant, Brown. I have to talk about it. It's a tough situation, man. Like we were talking about the McDonald's game, James got mad at me because we were talking about Bronny, about the draft. I really don't want to touch on it, we shouldn't be talking about No. 55 "I get it, it's his son, but then we start digging into it and then the next thing you know, sometimes you have the microphone in front of you, like now I have to go all the way there and that's what it is. Bronny shouldn't be a McDonald's All-American, but it's true because in the history of it, we don't know a lot of guys that average 14 points. ’ All-American,” I didn’t even believe he was an All-State selection in California. I don't want to make fun of him. I keep it real. " Bronny was named a McDonald's All-American as a senior in high school in 2023. He was a member of the West team, scoring 15 points (5-10 FG), 1 rebound, 4 assists and 2 steals. Fans were impressed with his performance, but the East team ended up losing 109-106 The win. James was in attendance and was happy to see Bronny hit the first of his five three-pointers that night. Of course, he was a 2003 McDonald's All-American and it meant a lot to see his son play alongside him in the Cavaliers, who he thought Bronny shouldn't have played in that game. As a senior at Canyon, he averaged 14.1 points and 5.6 rebounds. 2.4 assists, which, in the 40-year-old’s mind, isn’t enough to earn the honor. Bronny later committed to USC, but his hopes of thriving at the college level were dashed before he even played a game. On July 24, 2023, he suffered a cardiac arrest during a practice at the Galen Center. Browne was rushed to the hospital and was soon confirmed to be in stable condition. It was later discovered that a congenital heart defect was the cause of the cardiac arrest and, fortunately, he is expected to make a full recovery. Browne made his USC debut less than five months after the Dec. 10 incident. In his only season at USC, Bronny averaged 4.8 points per game Points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.2 blocks. Most players with those numbers probably wouldn't have been drafted, but the Lakers drafted him. James' team's selection of Bronny sparked accusations of nepotism, but father and son have largely blocked out the noise. James did confront Stephen Smith over his comments about Bronny that he felt crossed a line. Perkins, who played 14 seasons in the NBA, at least didn't get that treatment. Giving young people more encouragement can help them grow, right? What do you think?
