Rockets forward Kevin Durant talked about the issue of contract renewal in an interview: "I do want to renew the contract with the Rockets, and I think it will work."

Durant has one year left in the current contract, and his salary in the 2025-26 season is about $54.71 million. Starting from July 7, Durant is eligible to sign a 2-year, $122 million maximum salary with the Rockets in advance. If he waits for another 6 months (January 2026), the amount of the contract that can be signed will increase by $2 million (i.e. $124 million for two years). The deadline for early renewal is July 1, 2026. According to previous reports, Durant may "reduce his salary" and renew his contract early.

It is worth mentioning that today is Durant's 37th birthday.

In the 2024-25 season, Durant played 62 regular season games for the Suns, averaging 36.5 minutes per game, able to score 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks, with a shooting percentage of 52.7%, a three-point shooting percentage of 43.0%, and a free throw shooting percentage of 83.9%.
