Premier League summer window heats up this week, Manchester United may finalize new players
Starting this Tuesday, Premier League clubs may set off a climax of signings in the summer window. Because they will enter a new fiscal year, this means that their restrictions on the "Profit and Sustainable Development Rules" will no longer be so strict. The transfer window of the Premier League is expected to truly "heat up" starting this week. Previously, many clubs have been holding back their troops in signings, just to wait for the arrival of a new fiscal year. We have just entered the new financial report year stipulated by the Premier League financial rules. This means that any transaction from now will be included in the 2025/26 season, not the 2024/25 season. For clubs that were close to the "Profit and Sustainable Development Rules" (PSR) spending cap last fiscal year, they are likely to have been "tolerating" in signings. It is reported that management has shown with facts that violating PSR rules can lead to severe penalties for deductions. Therefore, some teams have been suspending their signing business before to avoid adding any further figures to the balance sheet for fiscal 2024/25. But any transactions starting this Tuesday will be included in a new ledger, and the club will also gain much greater operating space. Therefore, it can be predicted that the expenditure of each team will increase significantly. This summer, we have witnessed Liverpool breaking the UK's transfer fee record. They have spent nearly £200 million to introduce a group of strong players such as Florian Wilz, Jeremy Flynnpon and Milos Kolkz. However, it should also be noted that the Reds spent almost no money last summer, so they had enough room to invest. Manchester United spent 62.5 million to introduce Mattus Cunia, but despite their continued pursuit of Brian Mbemo, Cunia is still their only new player in the summer. Several offers they gave to the Brentford star were rejected, but the deal was generally expected to be completed eventually. Manchester City has also added three new faces, including Rayan Cherki. Coach Guardiola is looking at the team's reconstruction, and the millions of bonuses they received from the Club World Cup (which has entered the knockout stage) will also help their signings. Newcastle was once constrained by PSR rules in the past, but this new fiscal year may provide them with room to invest. They are chasing Brighton's Joao Pedro, and are also interested in goalkeeper James Trafford and Nottingham Forest's Anthony Ellanda. Arsenal is expected to sign a striker this summer, but no deal has been confirmed yet. Benjamin Sesco and Victor Zhekeraysh are still on their expedition list. At the same time, they have not officially announced the signing of Martin Subimedi from Real Sociedad.
