Official: The first FIFA Peace Prize will be awarded at the World Cup draw ceremony on December 5
On November 5, FIFA announced the establishment of the "FIFA Peace Award - Football Unites the World" to honor individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to peace and thus united people around the world. The "FIFA Peace Prize - Football Unites the World" will be awarded on behalf of the more than 5 billion people who love football around the world. Their daily actions inside and outside football embody FIFA's motto of "Football Unites the World", uniting boys and girls, men and women to share passion, joy, hope and happiness. It is therefore fitting that a special award be created to recognize this special achievement. This award will be presented to an individual who, through unwavering dedication and exceptional activities, has contributed to the promotion of peace and unity among peoples of the world and who therefore deserves special recognition. The award will be awarded annually, and the first award will be presented by FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the final draw ceremony of the 26th FIFA World Cup in Washington, D.C., on December 5, 2025. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: "In a world that is increasingly turbulent and divided, it is vital to recognize the outstanding contributions of those who work hard to end conflicts and promote peace. Football symbolizes peace, and the FIFA Peace Prize - Football Unites the World will represent the global football community and recognize those who have made great efforts to unite people and bring hope to future generations."
