Tyron Lu: "First of all, they only gave me a three-year contract, but I want five years. They tried to tie my contract with LeBron, which I understand, but I need longer-term security. The same is true here. If I accept a bad contract, it sets a bad tone for others. As a black championship coach, I feel like I have a responsibility to set the standard. If I accept a bad contract, what kind of offer will the next black coach get? It's just a worse contract. So I have to stick to that."

" And the biggest problem is? I can't pick my own coaching team. That's something I can't accept. They want to choose an assistant coach for me. For example, it's not me saying 'I want to hire John Drew or this guy, that guy,' they'll say 'No- you can only choose him and him'. Even if I might like some of them, the problem is that I can't leave my team behind."
