Timberwolves backcourt core: As the core, you have to take the initiative to take on the task of defending the opponent s core

The Minnesota Timberwolves conducted daily training during training camp. After the training, the team's backcourt star Anthony Edwards was interviewed by a sideline reporter. In the interview, he also talked about how his performance on the defensive end will affect the Timberwolves' overall performance in the new season.

Edwards said: Sometimes, as the team leader, you have to take the initiative to take on those difficult counter-attack tasks on the court. You can't let Jaden McDaniels defend the opponent's best player every minute of every night, which is really too heavy for him. So some nights, you have to stand up and tell him, you should guard against the other party’s No. 2 scorer, and let me guard against their No. 1 core. I did this not only to relieve McDaniels' pressure on the court, so that he could relax a little, but I also wanted to be able to motivate myself so that I could stay in a better shape when I entered the playoffs in February and March. I know that everyone has high hopes for me and hopes that I can take on more responsibilities. I also know that I can not only contribute to the team on the offensive end, but I can also become a key figure in the team on the defensive end. I hope that in the new season, everyone can see my contribution on the defensive end.

In the NBA regular season this season, Edwards made a total of 79 appearances in 82 games, averaging 36.3 minutes per game, averaging 27.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks, and 3.2 turnovers and 1.9 fouls, shooting percentage of 44.7%, three-point shooting percentage of 39.5%, and free throw shooting percentage of 83.7%. In the playoffs, Edwards made a total of 15 appearances, averaging 39 minutes of playing time, averaging 25.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.7 blocks, and 2.6 turnovers and 2.1 fouls. His shooting percentage was 45.3%, three-point shooting percentage was 35.4%, and his free throw shooting percentage was 71.9%.

Edwards' overall performance last season is obvious to everyone. He performed very well on the offensive end, his scoring ability is quite amazing, he can also play a good role in passing and organizing, and his stability in outside shooting has also been significantly improved. Edwards was able to maintain a super high level during the playoffs and was still an excellent scorer. However, his performance on the defensive end is not so outstanding, or he still has great potential to tap on the defensive end. I don’t know if Edwards can show enough competitiveness in the new season, and whether he can maintain a very high level on the offensive end while also showing stronger competitiveness on the defensive end.
