Meiji: Bulls offer Gidey a 4-year contract offer
According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Chicago Bulls offered Gidey a four-year, $80 million contract. As a restricted free agent, Gidey hopes to receive a contract with an annual salary of about $30 million. Jake Fischer wrote: "At the beginning of the offseason, the Bulls offered a four-year, $80 million contract to restricted free agent Gidey. Of course, Gidey hopes to receive a contract with an annual salary of around $30 million. Since the initial offer, Chicago has anchored its annual salary to around $20 million." Last season, Gidey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks for the Bulls, shooting 46.5% from the field, 37.8% from three-pointers, 78.1% from free throws, and scored 30 double-doubles and 7 triple-doubles. Jake Fischer wrote: "Source said that since the free agent market opened, Gidy has successfully attracted external interest from some opponent teams. Several Eastern Conference teams have contacted Gidy's agents to express their intention to sign and switch. However, sources also said that the management of more than one opponent team has expressed their reluctance to try to negotiate with the Bulls because Chicago has been conveying such a message for some time - they are not in a hurry to discuss such a plan." Gidy will turn 23 in October. During his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Bulls, he averaged 14.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks. Gidey attracted the interest of the Golden State Warriors, and the Warriors themselves have a restricted free agent - Kumingga. Jake Fischer wrote: "But the Warriors' interest in Gidey is sincere. Sources said that the Warriors were originally going to pick Gidey with the No. 7 pick in the 2021 draft, but Oklahoma City selected Gidey, which led the Warriors to pick Cuminga in the No. 7 pick. It is reported that before that draft, both the Thunder and the Warriors expected Gidey and Cuminga to be selected in the sixth and seventh picks, but the order may be different. I learned that the Warriors still value Gidey's technical characteristics and have expressed interest to the Australian point guard's agent. It seems that there is no feasible way to reach such a deal...at least not yet."
