Lakers reject 21-point comeback! Reeves injury update, Redick praises Ayton, Brownie awakens
The NBA preseason continues, with the Golden State Warriors going away to challenge the Los Angeles Lakers. A week ago, the two teams met once. James, Doncic and Reeves were exempted from the game. Curry, Butler, Green and Horford all played. The Lakers once chased the point difference to single digits after falling behind by 24 points. Unfortunately, they still fell short. The Warriors finally narrowly defeated the Lakers by 8 points. In this campaign, LeBron James and Doncic continued to be absent, and Curry, Butler and Horford also did not play. The Lakers sent a starting lineup of Reeves + Ayton + Knecht + Rui Hachimura + Van Der Biao. The Warriors' starting lineup was Kuminga + Pose + Green + Post + Hield. In this campaign, the four giants of the two teams were exempt from the game. Both sides started the game evenly matched. The Lakers used their strength during the rotation period to open up the score in one fell swoop, establishing a huge lead of up to 21 points. Changing sides and fighting again, Yong Sanfeng came as expected. Sister Bo stepped forward to dominate the game. The Warriors launched a 39-27 offensive in a single quarter, chasing the point difference to single digits in one fell swoop. In the final decisive battle, the two sides focused on training. The Lakers took advantage of the momentum at home to hit a 14-6 spurt, widening the point difference to double digits again, and the Warriors' situation was over. In the end, the Lakers defeated the Warriors 126-116 and completed their revenge. From a 21-point lead to a 10-point victory, the Lakers refused to make a 21-point reversal. The key is that they did two things well. First, the Lakers played at a very high level from beyond the three-point line. The team made 12 of 27 three-pointers, and the three-point field goal percentage was as high as 44.4%. On the other hand, the Warriors only made 14 of 43 shots from beyond the three-point line, and the three-point field goal percentage was only 32.6%. Second, the Lakers took advantage of their size to cause crazy damage, frequently went to the free throw line, and humiliated the Warriors in the simplest and crudest way. After the whole game, the Lakers went to the free throw line 35 times and made 28 free throws; in comparison, the Warriors only went to the free throw line 8 times and scored 6 points. Even though the Warriors relied on a small lineup to launch waves of counterattacks and beat the Lakers 21-9 with fast break scores, the hole they dug was too big. This monotonous style of play was not enough to destroy the Lakers who were blossoming inside and outside. It is gratifying that the Lakers have completed their revenge. Reeves was injured and retired early, which made people sweat. In this campaign, Reeves played 22 minutes, making 7 of 10 shots (2 of 4 three-pointers), 5 of 6 free throws, scoring 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 5 turnovers. Without Lao Zhan or Doncic, Reeves took the lead in shouldering the offensive output and did a good job. However, he was obviously uncomfortable after colliding with Bo's knee in the third quarter and clocked out early. After the game, Reeves' injury was updated. Redick revealed in an interview: Reeves' calf was hit by Sister Bo's knee, and it was not serious. Reeves himself also said in an interview: I am fine, I am fine. Ayton played the strongest game of his Lakers career, filling up the data column. Ayton played 26 minutes, making 6 of 8 shots, 2 of 2 free throws, and contributed 14 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. Facing the Warriors' small lineup, Ayton finally figured it out. On the offensive end, he used his height, skills and footsteps to create space. After the game, Lakers coach Redick praised Ayton. He said bluntly: Ayton is very good at reading defenses. Whether it is the strong side, weak side or double-team defense, he is trying to create opportunities for Reeves. He plays an irreplaceable role in the pick-and-roll and is very good. Ayton also made his words clear. He said bluntly: I want the entire league and the world to know that I am the Lakers center and the backbone of interior offense and defense. Brownie also woke up and completed his work in the smartest way. In this campaign, Brownie played 15 minutes as a substitute, making 1 of 2 shots, 5 of 5 free throws, 7 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist, with a plus-minus of +6. In the first two games of the preseason, Bronny's defense was very active, but his shot selection and shooting rate were disastrous. He made 3 of 18 shots and 2 of 12 from beyond the three-point line! In this campaign, Browne gave up mid-to-long-range shots, and both sports goals were completed near the penalty area. At the same time, Bronny used his body more to cause damage and crush the Warriors' small guards. The only way they could stop Bronny was to pay fouls and send him to the free throw line. Bronny's talent determines that he cannot become a hexagonal warrior like James, but his courage to fight is not inferior to James. If he can focus on doing what he is good at, I believe he can have a place in the NBA, or at least play a tool man. Fans and friends, what do you think of this? Come and leave me a comment to discuss.
