Clippers officially deny the Yin-Yang contract! It says it is willing to be investigated at any time and will be subject to a series of heavy fines if it is true
On September 4, the NBA entered the offseason. Earlier today, according to famous journalist Pablo Torre's revelation on a podcast show, Clippers star Leonard was suspected of signing a yin-yang contract with Clippers boss Ballmer. Subsequently, the Clippers' official response to the matter, and if the matter is true, the Clippers will be severely punished. The Clippers issued a statement to respond to the matter: "Mr. Ballmer and the Clippers have never evaded the salary cap or engaged in any misconduct through Aspiration, and any objection can be proved to be false. The team terminated their partnership with Aspiration as early as the 2022-23 season because Aspiration failed to fulfill its obligations. Before the government launched an investigation, neither the team nor Mr. Ballmer knew of any misconduct by Aspiration or its co-founder. The team and Mr. Ballmer were ready to assist law enforcement in their investigations to the best of their ability." It should be noted that the NBA had made heavy penalties on the Yin-Yang contract between Joe Smith and the Timberwolves, including the confiscation of the Timberwolves' first round picks for five consecutive years (finally returning two). If the league confirms that Leonard has signed a Yin-Yang contract, the Clippers are likely to face the penalty of confiscating their first-round picks. Since the Clippers' first round in recent years is not entirely controlled by themselves (the Thunder was given in 2026, the 76ers were given in 2028, and the 2027 and 2029 were the disadvantaged parties), according to the rules, the Clippers will start to calculate the number of penalties from 2030. At the same time, the NBA official has clear penalties for the Yin-Yang contract. The Yin-Yang contract may face penalties: maximum fine of $7.5 million; direct cancellation of the draft pick; invalidation of the contract or any renegotiation, renewal or modification of the player's contract between the player and the team; a maximum fine of $350,000 for the player; any team person who deliberately participates in such violations will be divided by a one-year ban; if any transaction or signing is found that violates the league rules, it will be cancelled and the purple gold obtained in the transaction will be forcibly confiscated unless the player can prove that he is unaware of it at the time.
