Christian Wood is forgotten in the corner

On February 12 this year, the Lakers announced the waiver of Wood, but no one cares about it. It seems that everyone has forgotten him.

Wood was undrafted in 2015, playing for the 76ers, Hornets, Bucks, Pelicans, Pistons, Rockets, Mavericks, and Lakers. He briefly joined the CBA Fujian team in 2017, but was cut off without playing the game. He joined the Lakers on September 6, 2023, and played only 67 games in two seasons, averaging 6.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1 assist. He was reimbursed due to a knee injury in the 2024-2025 season. In February 2025, the Lakers announced the waivement of Wood.

Wood's starting point is low, and the first big contract was on November 24, 2020. At that time, Wood also played for the Pistons and joined the Rockets by signing first and then changing. The contract was $41 million for three years, which is the largest and most stable contract in Wood's entire career.

Wood is an offensive inside player. He has speed, height and rich scoring methods on the field, but his lower body is thin and easy to be injured. His disadvantage is that he likes to stick to the ball and is unwilling to share the ball rights with his teammates. Wood had left knee surgery in March 2024 and has never returned to the field since then until he was cut by the Lakers.
