Beverly: There should be no more slanderous comments about Westbrook

On Saturday, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Clippers in the seventh game of the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs to advance to the second round.

In the end, the Nuggets lost to the Clippers with a score of 120-101.

In Game 7, six Denver Nuggets scored in double digits: Aaron Gordon (22 points), Christian Braun (21 points), Jamal Murray (16 points), Nikola Jokic (16 points), Russell Westbrook (16 points) and Michael Porter (15 points).

Nuggets defeated the Clippers 37-21 in the second quarter and surpassed the Clippers 35-19 in the third quarter to widen the gap. The 7th game victory was particularly gratifying for Westbrook, who played 89 games for the Clippers in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Last summer, the Clippers traded Westbrook to the Utah Jazz. Westbrook signed with the Nuggets after being cut by the Jazz.

In the seventh game against the Clippers, Westbrook played for 27 minutes, scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals, making 5 of 9 shots in the game and 2 of 4 three-pointers. The nine-time All-Star player has a plus or negative value of +6. After the Nuggets defeated the Clippers, a former Westbrook opponent praised him on the X website. Former NBA defender Patrick Beverly posted that there should be no more slanderous remarks about Westbrook.

Beverly and Westbrook played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2022-23 season. The two defenders had fierce competition in the past and have now settled.

In 2013, in the Oklahoma City Thunder against the Houston Rockets, Westbrook was dribbling the ball towards the bench to call a timeout. Beverly sprained Westbrook's knee while stealing, causing a meniscus torn and underwent multiple knee surgeries.

In November 2019, Westbrook played for the Rockets and Beverley played for the Clippers. When asked about Beverly's defense, the UCLA player said: "Part Beverly played all of you tricks, like he was on the defensive end. He couldn't defend anyone at all, man. He just ran around and did nothing." The grudge between Beverly and Westbrook is now over. It seems Beverly is supporting Westbrook while he is still chasing his first NBA title.

Nuggets will play against Westbrook's former club Thunder in the second round.
