Oppose hosting games overseas! The Spanish Players Association will protest before the start of the 9th round
On October 18, the Spanish Football Players Association (AFE) officially issued a statement that it would take protest actions before the start of the ninth round of La Liga to oppose La Liga’s overseas hosting of games. The statement read: AFE, with the support of the captains of each La Liga team, announced that it would protest before the start of all games in the ninth round of La Liga to express its dissatisfaction with La Liga's lack of transparency, lack of dialogue and failure to maintain consistency, especially the decision to hold the game in the United States. Although the union supports this position and core demands, in order to prevent the protest actions from being misunderstood as targeting specific clubs, it decided not to allow players from Barcelona and Villarreal to participate in the action. Faced with La Liga’s continued refusal to communicate and unrealistic proposals, AFE firmly opposes a project that has not been recognized by major participants and requires the establishment of a negotiation platform to share all information, analyze the particularities of the project, pay attention to the needs and concerns of the players, ensure that their labor rights are protected, and comply with current regulations. According to Western media reports, La Liga players will perform a timeout lasting 20 to 30 seconds at the beginning of the ninth round to express their protest against La Liga holding the game in Miami.
