Giokelez leads the European Golden Boot Awards, Mbappe is chasing
As the 2023/24 season is approaching its end, the competition for the European Golden Boot Awards has also entered its final stage. Many top scorers compete fiercely in their respective leagues, and the suspense continues. Currently, Portuguese sports forward Viktor Gyökeres tops the list with 39 league goals, becoming one of the most efficient scorers in Europe this season. He not only helped the team win the long-lost Portuguese Super League championship, but also firmly ranked first in the Golden Boot list with this series of goals. However, since the Portuguese Premier League coefficient is 1.5 points/ball, which is lower than the 2 points/ball of the top five leagues, if Giokelez wants to win the championship, he still needs to hope that other competitors will fail to take a big lead in the remaining games. If he wins eventually, he will be the fourth European Golden Boot winner from non-Big5 leagues since the rating rules adjustment in 1997. Nevertheless, Kylian Mbappé, who is from Paris Saint-Germain and now plays for Real Madrid, is catching up. He continued to maintain strong momentum in Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over Sevilla on Sunday. With one more goal, he will tie Giokelez who has finished the season in points. At the same time, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has not fallen behind. The Egyptian international currently only scored one goal less than Mbappe and held two chances of making up for the game. Tonight, Liverpool will challenge Brighton away, and Salah still has plenty of opportunities to launch an attack. Last season's Golden Boot winner Harry Kane regretfully withdrew from the championship. The Bayern Munich striker scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga this season, but due to the end of the league, he can only rank fourth on the list with the total number of goals and missed the final competition. With the last round of competition about to begin, who will win the European Golden Boot Award, which symbolizes the honor of the European Best Scorer? The answer is revealed soon.
