AC Milan confirms the introduction of Modric: "His arrival is crucial"

The Croatian joined a team seeking change because they performed quite poorly last season and failed to make it to European competitions.

Milan's sporting director, Albanian Igli Tare, confirmed on Wednesday that Luca Modric's transfer to the 'Red and Blacks' was completed and guaranteed that his arrival was "critical" as he competed against Real Madrid for the club's World Cup title.

"I talked to him in person and I saw a man who was very eager to compete. His arrival was crucial for a team that needed such a player, and he needed leadership," Tare said during his first meeting with Italian journalists as the new sports director.

"The first question he asked me was, 'Are we a team that can win the Champions League?' He won six of his Champions Leagues and wanted to be a star player from the start, which is important because his mentality, leadership and professionalism will affect the team " he added.

Modric will join Milan with new coach Massimiliano Allegri. After a disastrous season and failing to make it to Europe, it is a project that is being rebuilt. The project focused solely on the Serie A and the Italian Cup will give him the opportunity to work hard for his goal - representing Croatia in the World Cup.

"It's even more exciting for him as a Milan fan, and it would be great if he could have a great season because the World Cup will be held at the end of the season," he said firmly.
