The NBA releases three highlights of the draft: Lotto show + new joint trial + G League leader

The 2025 NBA Draft qualifiers will officially start on Saturday local time. 120 players, including Cooper Flag, Dylan Harper, Derek Quinn, Walter Clayton Jr., gather in Chicago to attend the NBA lottery ceremony!

NBA teams, their fans and players participating in the game will watch the announcement of the draft draw results online (7 p.m. ET, ESPN), which will determine the final order of the first round draft. The draft will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York from June 25-26 (8 pm ET, ABC/ESPN).

Which team wins Flagg's draft pick will lead the discussion within six weeks of the draw, while the other 29 teams screen other talented candidates outside Duke's freshman.

The draft joint training camp and elite training camp at Winterros Arena will allow players to train, measure, athletic tests, physical examinations, team interviews and 5-on-5 proofreading. The

merger provides players with an opportunity to improve their draft in front of hundreds of NBA executives, coaches, bosses and agents. The merger is often described as an informal start of free agents as teams lay the foundation for the trade, which may be announced once the trade window opens at 6 p.m. ET on June 30.

There are a lot to look forward to during the most important weeks of the NBA calendar, including which players can improve the draft, which players can withdraw from the draft, and what prospects the team will start to focus on as private practices go after the merger.

Jonathan Givoni and Jeremy Woo detailed the news and expectations they heard, while highlighting five prospects that need to be closely watched.

Who is ready, or willing to enter the NBA league, has a few players who use combination punches as a springboard to steadily improve their position to the first round, or in hindsight, they should have been drafted to a higher position. Jaylen Williams, Brandin Podimsky, Andrew Nembahard, Quentin Grimes, Kevin Hurt and Dont Divinsonzo stood out as NBA players who have recently saved themselves in the league, while Derek White, Pascal Siakam and Kyle Kuzma also showed off their shining points that ultimately influenced players at the NBA level.

In the past few years, many players who were selected or not selected at the end of the second round draft have refused to participate in the NBA league, which has caused panic among NBA executives present. This leads to friction between teams and agents—the team will be in Chicago for over a week, hoping to get the right reward in their time—and when revealing players’ weaknesses, agents often feel that the fewer the better.

Previously, the agents of elite candidates could strategically guide players to preferred destinations by keeping medical staff away from less attractive teams—a practice now not allowed.

Some players who "test the waters" in the joint game will have no choice but to play 5-on-5, because on May 28, the NCAA withdrawal deadline, they will face an important decision on whether to stay on the draft list or return to school.

Some of the more famous "stay or leave" decisions include: Axel Lundberg (Michigan), Alex Conton (Florida), Drake Powell (North Carolina), Cedric Cald (Duke), Tahad Pettyford (Austen), Milos Uzan (Houston), Boogie Flander (Transfer Portal), Labaron Fillon (Alabama), Isaiah Evans (Duke), Darien Williams (Transfer Portal), Miles Bird (San Diego), Carter Knox (Arkansas), PJ Hagerty (Transfer Portal), Jamill Watkins (Transfer Portal) and RJ Louis. The decisions of the 15 players will have a significant impact on the progress of next year’s college season. For example, teams like Duke will look completely different depending on the decisions of their Test players. Other schools have been patiently waiting for Williams, Hagerty, Watkins and Louis — the four hottest players in the transfer portal — to decide their next move. If these players don't like the feedback they get in the joint trial, NIL's funds may wait for them next year if they choose to withdraw from the recruitment. Joint trial training after actual combat

After two days of 5-to-5 practical drills, the agent will stay on the center stage on Thursday and Friday, allowing their players to train according to the script, aiming to emphasize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. In the past, players would fly across the country to participate in these training sessions, but this year's rule changes have led to a separate joint trial in Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Lakers' training hall under the same roof in Chicago from May 20-21!

NBA teams have different views on these trainings. Some teams like to sit on the sidelines to observe rookie opportunities, including many top players in the draft, to observe the players' physical fitness, athleticism and shooting skills up close, which they would have barely seen.

Other teams believe that these trainings are excuses for agents to pull players out of intense confrontational training. Among the top decision makers, the NBA's attendance in these professional days has dropped dramatically in the past few years, as executives no longer worry about missing out if something important happens.

Correspondingly, the lottery show no longer participates in these training as often as before, which hurts the interests of other clients of the big agency, who often rely on top rookies to attract a large number of NBA teams to train the hall!

It will be interesting to see how teams view the evolution of this year's career day. Whether the team is willing to admit it or not, some of the past prospects have undoubtedly helped improve their draft rankings by showing their physical talents and abilities in front of a major NBA audience. Joint training in the G League once again selects outstanding players. The elite training camp of the G League will begin this weekend, with 45 players participating in a two-day event. Five to eight best players are expected to stand out from the warm-up game for the NBA G League draft joint trial later this week — which is exactly what Los Angeles Clippers guard Terance Mann and Charlotte Hornets forward Cody Martin did in 2019 and Oklahoma City Thunder wingback Aaron Wiggins in 2021, finally hearing their names pick in the draft and then pioneering a strong NBA career.

Alumni of other G League elite training camps—such as Max Struz, Caleb Martin, Vince Williams Jr. and Jose Alvarado—haven't received calls from the draft federation, but still became influential NBA players. There was never a shortage of participants in the

G League Elite Training Camp - such as Nemhard, Dylan Jones and Marcus Suther - who left the draft after attending the training camp, then used the feedback and experience gained in Chicago and later became draft players in the NBA.

Some of the top rookies who will be attending the G League Elite Training Camp this year include Malique Lewis of Southeast Melbourne, Amari Williams of Kentucky, Caleb Love of Arizona, Caleb Grill of Missouri and Yanic Konan Niederhauser of Penn State.
