Source: Warriors are unlikely to seek trade Antetokounmpo after being eliminated in the playoffs

Even after being eliminated in the 2025 NBA playoffs, the Warriors don't seem ready to make earth-shaking moves in the offseason.

Especially for superstars that may appear on the trading market this summer: Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Golden State lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-121 hours after the game ended, The Athletic's Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson quoted league sources as saying that the Warriors are not currently expected to be major players in the potential trading market if Antetokounmpo is traded.

"There are no signs that the Warriors will take the lead in the unfulfilled Giannis Antetokounmpo battle," Slater and Thompson wrote. "As the summer season comes, the Warriors' internal planning and discussion focus is on how to reorganize the best role player around the [Stephen Curry and [Jimmy] Butler duo rather than chasing another star."

Of course, that's the NBA, and as we've realized time and time again, you can never really rule out any possibility.

As Slater and Thompson suggest, the battle for Giannis has not yet been achieved, and the two-time NBA MVP winner is reportedly "open" to play for other teams next season, but has not yet made a trade request, and the Bucks have not expressed any willingness to trade him.

If Antetokounmpo can transfer freely this summer, there is no doubt that the Warriors will at least have some interest in the nine-time All-Star player. Antetokounmpo reportedly has been the "dream goal" for Golden State Warriors CEO Joe Lacob for years.

However, even if the "Greek Monster" does enter the trading market, the Warriors seem unlikely to be his target.
