Smart Grizzlies commented on Laravia: He has the potential to be a top defender

According to Shams Charania, Marcus Smart completed a buyout with the Wizards and will sign a two-year, $11 million contract with the Lakers.

Subsequently, Lakers blogger LakersMuse updated X news and posted an interview with Smart during the Grizzlies who commented on Laravia.

Smart was interviewed by reporter Damichael Cole at the time. When talking about Laravia's potential, he praised:

"He has the potential to become the next top outside defense champion and can defend the opponent's top outside player."

Laravia played in 66 games last season, averaging 6.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, shooting percentage of 47.5%, and 42.3% of three-pointers.
