NBA trade rumors: The Lakers are considering improving their roster through trades, which may introduce former Warriors champion Wiggins

The Los Angeles Lakers are building a team around Luca Doncic. This summer, they brought in big man DeAndre Ayton and got the experienced outside defense after the Washington Wizards bought out Marcus Smart's contract. However, it seems that the Lakers' operations are not over yet.

On Monday, Stan Line's Mark Stan reported a potential deal rumor related to Los Angeles. According to the NBA insider, the Lakers may get a former champion player in the future. Stan mentioned Andrew Wiggins, a former Golden State Warriors forward and currently playing for the Miami Heat.

Wigkins signed a four-year $109 million contract with the Heat, and is currently in his third year, with a $30 million player option next season.

Stan explained that whether the Lakers are interested will depend on how the Heat handles the Canadian star.

The insider wrote: "My feeling is that if the Heat decide to prioritize financial flexibility and consider cutting payroll spending in the coming weeks or months, then the Lakers will be interested."

Wiggins is part of the Warriors' 2021-2022 championship roster and part of the five-team deals last season around All-Star forward Jimmy Butler. He played in 17 games with Miami, averaging 19 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, shooting 45.8% from the field.

After losing Doron Finney-Smith in free agent market this season, the Lakers are looking to add some height and defensive ability to the wing position. Wiggins has proven that he can do well when playing with a dynamic player like Doncic. Playing alongside Stephen Curry allows him to play as a second or third option on the offense and show a strong influence on the defensive end.

Rachel Nichols expressed his opinion on the rumor about the Lakers and Warriors' player deal, which involved LeBron James. Previously before the offseason began, there were rumors that the Lakers could trade with the Warriors, when LeBron James could transfer to the Warriors. The rumor has attracted the attention of fans who want to see James and Curry play for the same team at the 2024 Olympics (who had played together for Team USA at the time).

Against this backdrop, famous NBA insider Rachel Nichols dismissed the deal rumors surrounding the two superstars. Nichols talked about the rumors last week on the Chris Mannicks’ NBA Open Space Podcast.

"I don't think LeBron James will ask for a transfer to San Francisco. And even if he does, the Lakers have no reason to do it. They will take back Jimmy Butler's contract, right?" Nichols said.

According to Nichols, fans should put aside their expectations for James and Curry to form a team because it doesn't make sense. The insider believes that neither team has any reason to do such a move.
