44 points + 8 three-pointers in two games! The Lakers are hiding a 26-year-old 2.03 forward: Super shooter counterattack?

scored 24 points and 20 points in two back-to-back games, with a total of 14 shots and 8 of 13 three-pointers. Cole Sweed became the best player in the Lakers' summer league team's first two games. When Knector, who was highly anticipated, felt cold in his hands, Sweed's performance was eye-catching. His shots were really accurate.

Sweed is an old acquaintance of the Lakers. He was a 2022 draft pick and signed a two-way contract with the Lakers in the 2020-23 season. As a 2.03-meter-tall striker, he has superb shooting ability, and his weakness is that his defense is relatively poor. Sweed signed a two-way contract with the Heat in 2023-24, and a two-way contract with the Pistons in 2024-25. Sweed was traded to the South Bay Lakers in the Development League mid-season. However, in March he signed a short-term contract with the Raptors.

Sweed performed mediocrely in the NBA, averaging only 3.1 points and 1.2 rebounds per game. But in the Development League, Sweed is the top three-point shooter.

In the 2022-23 season, Sweed played for the South Bay Lakers averaged 17.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, shooting percentage of 50.6%, three-point shooting percentage of 43.6%, and free throw shooting percentage of 83.8%. In the 2023-24 season, Sweed played for Sioux Falls Tianli, a Heat affiliated Development League team, averaged 24.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game, shooting percentage of 51.4%, three-point shooting percentage of 50.0%, and free throw shooting percentage of 81.3%. In the 2024-25 season, Sweed played for the Pistons affiliated Development League team Mobile City Cruise and the South Bay Lakers in the Development League, averaging 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, shooting percentage of 48.3%, three-point shooting percentage of 44.4%, and free throw shooting percentage of 92.3%.

Sweed's three-point shooting is very fierce, averaging 4.3 three-pointers. I have to say that he is the top three-point shooter in the Development League. Sweed, 26, is now playing in the Summer League for the Lakers, of course, hoping to seek an NBA contract based on his performance in the Summer League.

On July 6, the Lakers lost to the Warriors 84-89. Sweed played for 29 minutes, made 7 of 10 shots, 6 of 8 three-pointers, and 4 of 4 free throws, scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 1 steal. On July 7, the Lakers beat the Heat 103-83. Sweed played for 27 minutes, made 7 of 10 shots, 2 of 5 three-pointers and 4 of 5 free throws, scoring the team's highest 20 points, and also contributed 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block.

Sweed once again demonstrated his superb projection ability. If he had maintained such a solid performance in both the Salt Lake City Summer League and the Las Vegas Summer League, he would have really had a basic salary contract.
