Manchester United loan goalkeeper: I want to return to play for the Red Devils in the future, but my path may also lead to other places

November 13th. Manchester United loan goalkeeper Vitek recently accepted an interview with Sky Sports. He expressed his ambition to play for the Manchester United first team, but at the same time he was realistic about his career direction.

This summer, Wittek was loaned out to Bristol City in the English Championship by Manchester United. He performed well in the team this season, starting all leagues and keeping 5 zero sheets.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Whittaker said: "It's true that signing for Bristol City was a bit unexpected. I knew I would be loaned out this season because I had an agreement with the coaching staff."

"It was the best option, to get more experience at a higher level than last year. It was the obvious choice because for me, it was really attractive to play in the Championship for a club like Bristol City. After talking to the manager, I immediately I agreed."

"I'm still quite young, but I think I'm a goalkeeper who likes to dominate and make the team in front of me feel at ease, so that they can trust me."

"From the first day, I've always been a goalkeeper. Everything went well. The people around the club, the city...everyone was really good to me from day one and the fans were fantastic."

"The first away game, against Sheffield Wednesday...it was a great time to celebrate a win like that. Memories, I think I will never forget this moment."

Vitek, who joined Manchester United's youth academy from Czech club Sigma Olomouc in 2020, recalled: "I knew immediately that Manchester United wanted me, they directly after seven weeks of trial training. "They wanted to sign me, but it was during the coronavirus outbreak and I was at home for six months, but I didn't have any doubts because the conversations I had with the coaches in Manchester made me feel very confident."

"Obviously, I turned out. The club is also aware of this interest, and they have communicated with Manchester United about the contract and everything, so it is basically finalized. Some of my teammates couldn't believe it at the time, because it is not something that happens every day when someone goes from the Czech youth training camp to a club like Manchester United."

Wittek won the best player performance in Manchester United's first warm-up match of the season against Rosenborg in 2024, but he did not participate in the summer tour of the United States because he was about to be loaned out. Despite this, Wittek is still expected to return to Manchester United and compete with Ramens for the No. 1 goalkeeper position: "I am taking it step by step, and we will see what is best for me next summer."

"I communicate regularly with Manchester United's goalkeeper coach, he came here to watch my game, and I maintain good contact with them."

"I know. I know they're looking at me and I'm really grateful that I'm not the forgotten guy or anything. Obviously, in the long term, I'd love to play for Manchester United one day, but I'm also realistic and I know my path could lead elsewhere."

Before joining Bristol City on loan, Wittek had just extended his contract with Manchester United until 2028.
