Keane: Eze just "performs well" is far from enough, and higher standards need to be set

September 7th, in the fifth round of the European Group K of the World Cup, England defeated Andorra 2-0. During the game, Eze's two shots were saved by Andorra's goalkeeper, and another excellent opportunity was above the crossbar.

In response, Ian Wright commented: "Sometimes, he will stand still and catch the ball. That opportunity in the first half was a shot. He would be disappointed that the handling was not ideal, but as long as he could continue to appear in dangerous areas, I would be very satisfied."

Roy Keane said: "What worries me is that when we discuss this type of player, I think he is doing well. But the coach will say 'is OK' is far from enough, we need to set a higher standard."

English Gran coach Tuchel's speech after the game supported Keane's view: "We missed some moments of accelerating the game. Perhaps Eze did not perform at the best in the No. 10 position. His decision-making performance in training was excellent, but he struggled a little in actual combat. Maduaike's last pass was not accurate enough, Rashford had some outstanding moments but had a poor kick in the last goal. We should have scored the second goal earlier."

England's first goal came from the 25th minute, and Maduaike's cross forced the opponent to head the ball and score an own goal. But they didn't expand the score until the middle of the second half, and Rice headed the ball with Rees James.
